I wanna kiss you all over
    And over again
I wanna kiss you all over

    Till the night closes in

It is wrong that I find a lot of these "annoying" songs to be really good tunes???

I heard a Jack Johnson song this morning that really reminded me of this theme from a late '60s-early''70s sitcom:

People let me tell you 'bout my best friend
He's a warm-hearted person who'll love me 'till the end...

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_eiwpZS3Vqg

I never realized that Harry Nilsson sang it!

    Istanbul not Constantinople
Now it's Istanbul and not Constantinople
Been a long time gone, Constantinople
Why did Constantinople get the works?
That's no one's business but the Turks...

Actually I like this song, it's just becomes annoying after it has been in my head all weekend long...

    On that note...

Not to put a fine point on it,
Say that I'm the only bee in your bonnet,
Make a little birdhouse in your soul...
    And that concludes staff’s presentation...

    Movie theme time!

I heard it last week and I can't get it out of my head

    We're big rock singers
    We've got golden fingers
And we're loved everywhere we go
We sing about beauty and we sing about truth
At ten thousand dollars a show
We take all kinds of pills
To give us all kinda thrills
But the thrill we've never known
Is the thrill that will getcha
    When you get your picture
on the Cover of the Rolling Stone . . .

Out of nowhere, Starland Vocal Band starts singing Afternoon Delight. It's like John Denver meets The Captain and Tennile. Make them go away! Please!

What are the strangest songs you've ever got stuck in your head? Sure, you might easily get a catchy tune like 'Mmm Bop' stuck in your head, but it's just that - catchy! Yesterday I had the 'Star Spangled Banner' stuck in my head for much of the day (2nd trumpet part for the bandies out there)

oh yeah, and since I'm already posting...

People will miss that it once meant something to be Southern or Midwestern. It doesn't mean much now, except for the climate. The question, “Where are you from?” doesn't lead to anything odd or interesting. They live somewhere near a Gap store, and what else do you need to know? - Garrison Keillor

The courtship of eddie's father - always loved that song and the show!

Here's another one for us old timers:

    Round
Like a circle in a spiral
Like a wheel within a wheel
    Never ending or beginning
    On an ever spinning reel
Like a snowball down a mountain
    Or a carnival balloon
    Like a carousel that’s turning
    Running rings around the moon

Like a clock whose hands are sweeping
Past the minutes of it's face
And the world is like an apple
    Whirling silently in space
Like the circles that you find
In the windmills of your mind !

    What Does the Fox Say?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jofNR_WkoCE

My experience with foxes, and I've seen quite a lot is that the fox does not say a lot. They are pretty quiet creatures, as a rule. But when they do "say" the sounds are varied, from howls, to yips, barks. They really have quite a repitoire, but making noise is not conducive to sneaking up on prey or raiding the chicken coop.

My favorite fox experience was camping in the Smoky Mountains. My friends and I were sitting around the campfire and noticed there were four or so foxes sitting just on the edge of the light of the fire, just watching us. Sitting upright, ears erect, eyes blazing red and so quiet. Maybe they were curious. Maybe they were waiting for us to go to bed so they could see if we would leave any food out. Maybe they just liked the fire. They were welcome guests on a cool evening.

That's how I feel now... ever since I saw the youtube clip of Rosemary Clooney singing Cole Porter's "It Was Just One Of Those Things" as her defense in her "murder trial":
    www.youtube.com/embed/HGHRDObKqaw?feature=player_detailpage

It was just one of those things
Just one of those crazy flings
One of those bells that now and then rings
    Just one of those things

It was just one of those nights
Just one of those fabulous flights
A trip to the moon on gossamer wings
    Just one of those things...

Don't know why this jumped into my head this morning....thought I'd share.

    Hey, hey, we're The Monkees
And people say we monkey around,
    But we're too busy singing
    To put anybody down....
I think that one of the great signs of security is the ability to just walk away.

AIB a Cyburbian's posting elsewhere about evil ear worms

Great green gobs of greasy grimy gopher guts
    Mutilated monkey meat
    Hairy pickled piggy feet
French fried eyeballs floating in some kerosene
    And me without a spoon.

Great green gobs of greasy grimy gopher guts
    Scab sandwich, puss on top
    Vulture vomit, camel snot
Deep dish boogers soaking in a bowl of fat
    And me without a spoon.

Great green gobs of greasy grimy gopher guts
    Parrot eyeballs dipped in glue
    Petrified porpoise puss
Flaming ear wax bobbing in a bowl of barf
    And me without a spoon.

Great green gobs of greasy grimy gopher guts
    desiccated dinosaur dung
    percolated pelican poop
Tortoise turd balls with the little flies inside
    And me without a spoon.

Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves?
Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here?
Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?
    From Kelly's Heroes (1970)

Are you sure you're not hurt ?
No. Just some parts wake up faster than others.
Broke parts take a little longer, though.

    Music Man!

On RAGBRAI last week, one of the stops was Mason City, hometown of Meredith Willson. The "Music Man Square" facility has a streetscape from this 1962 film, buttons you can push to hear good music (Willson was in Sousa's band!), lots of horns and visuals and band uniforms...sigh.

    Here ya go!
