I was watching a pbs program a few weeks ago and that song was actually written and performed by a south african, IIRC. The publishers never gave him a dime for the rights. Kinda sad story.

    "Feelings. Nothing more than Feelings."
    On pitching to Stan Musial:
"Once he timed your fastball, your infielders were in jeopardy."

No collection of bad music is complete without this bilge...

    "Muskrat Susie, Muskrat Sam
Do the jitterbug out in muskrat land
    And they shimmy
    Sam is so skinny..."
"There's nothing wrong with America that can't be fixed by what's right with America." - Bill Clinton.

"We do not need any other Tutankhamun's tomb with all its treasures. We need context. We need understanding. We need knowledge of historical events to tie them together. We don't know much. Of course we know a lot, but it is context that's missing, not treasures." - Werner Herzog, in Archaeology, March/April 2011

Yeccch, Cyndi Lauper was singing about (well, I'd rather not say in this forvm).

Howabout that great song from the Tokens:

"In the jungle, the mighty jungle, the lion sleeps tonight...".

Great for that tailgate party for a certain NFL opponant.

doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo
    I am sitting
    In the morning
    At the diner
    On the corner

    I am waiting
    At the counter
    For the man
    To pour the coffee

    And he fills it
    Only halfway
    And before
    I even argue

    He is looking
    Out the window
    At somebody
    Coming in
    "Tom's Diner"--guarenteed to stick!
    I don't dream. I plan.

Did you know that was written while sitting in the same diner that inspired Monk's Coffeshop on the hit TV series Seinfeld?

Just some useless TV trivia, brought to you by the Z Man.
You get all squeezed up inside/Like the days were carved in stone/You get all wired up inside/And it's bad to be alone

You can go out, you can take a ride/And when you get out on your own/You get all smoothed out inside/And it's good to be alone

How quickly we forget these ditties:

"Don't tell my heart, my achy breaky heart..." UGH!!!

    "Heeeey, macarena! AaaAaay!" ARGGHHH!!!

    Can anyone top those two?

How 'bout this Don Ho classic: Tiny Bubbles

    Tiny bubbles (tiny bubbles)
In the wine (in the wine)
Make me happy (make me happy)
Make me feel fine (make me feel fine)

    Tiny bubbles (tiny bubbles)

    Make me warm all over
With a feeling that I'm gonna
Love you till the end of time

So here's to the golden moon
And here's to the silver sea
    And mostly here's a toast
    To you and me

So here's to the ginger lei
    I give to you today
    And here's a kiss
    That will not fade away

    Rubberband Man

Hand me down my walkin’ cane
    Hand me down my hat
Hurry now and don’t be late
'Cause we ain’t got time to chat

You and me we’re goin’ out
    To catch the latest sounds
    Guaranteed to blow your mind
So high you won’t come down

    Hey, y’all prepare yourself
    For the Rubberband man
    You never heard a sound
    Like the rubberband man
    You’re bound to lose control
When the Rubberband starts to jam
When Jesus said "love your enemies", he probably didn't mean kill them.

I don't see where we are limited to only one entry so.....
Domo arigato Mr. Roboto Domo (domo) Domo (domo)
    Domo arigato Mr. Roboto......

or those dogs that bark Jingle Bells

Come to think of it there have been a number of TV theme songs that rank pretty high on the annoyance scale. How about the Silver Spoons theme? or better yet, the "Different Strokes" theme
People will miss that it once meant something to be Southern or Midwestern. It doesn't mean much now, except for the climate. The question, “Where are you from?” doesn't lead to anything odd or interesting. They live somewhere near a Gap store, and what else do you need to know? - Garrison Keillor

.....sugar, sugar.....da da da da da daaaa......honey, honey.....la la la la la laaaa.....you are my candy girl........

After typing the lyrics above I noticed that the lyrics are almost "porn-like".

    So I ask.....where is Veronica?

After having had my iPod on shuffle all day, the song that got stuck is "Lost Cause" by Beck. "I'm tired of fighting, I'm tired of fighting, fighting for a lost cause..." Think my iPod is trying to tell me something?

No way, Beck sang that? Wow, learn something new... everyday!

Well, there ya go, I didn't know "Tom's Diner" was the inspiration for the coffee house in Seinfeld. It's just been a learning experience all round today!
