The Devil went down to Georgia
He was lookin for a soul to steal
He was in a bind
'Cause he was way behind
He was willin to make a deal

He was in a bind
'Cause he was way behind

People will miss that it once meant something to be Southern or Midwestern. It doesn't mean much now, except for the climate. The question, “Where are you from?” doesn't lead to anything odd or interesting. They live somewhere near a Gap store, and what else do you need to know? - Garrison Keillor
Along Came Jones
The Coasters
I plopped down in my easy chair and turned on Channel 2
A bad gunslinger called Salty Sam was chasin' poor Sweet Sue
He trapped her in the old sawmill and said with an evil laugh,
"If you don't give me the deed to your ranch
I'll saw you all in half!"
And then he grabbed her (and then)
He tied her up (and then)
He turned on the bandsaw (and then, and then...!)
(chorus):
And then along came Jones
Tall thin Jones
Slow-walkin' Jones
Slow-talkin' Jones
Along came long, lean, lanky Jones
Commercial came on, so I got up to get myself a snack
You should've seen what was goin' on by the time that I got back
Down in the old abandoned mine, Sweet Sue was havin' fits
That villain said, "Give me the deed to your ranch
Or I'll blow you all to bits!"
And then he grabbed her (and then)
He tied her up (and then)
He lit the fuse to the dynamite (and then, and then...!)
(chorus)
I got so bugged I turned it off and turned on another show
But there was the same old shoot-'em-up and the same old rodeo
Salty Sam was tryin' to stuff Sweet Sue in a burlap sack
He said, "If you don't give me the deed to your ranch
I'm gonna throw you on the railroad tracks!"
And then he grabbed her (and then)
He tied her up (and then)
He threw her on the railroad tracks (and then)
A train started comin' (and then, and then...!)
(chorus

thanks to RJ's thread on magistrates, I immediately heard Kenny Loggins singing "I'm Alright"...![]()
You load sixteen tons
& what do you get?
Another day older and deeper in debt
St. Peter don't call me 'cause I can't go -
I owe my soul to the company store...
I have been humming "Brick House" all morning. I actually dig the song.
though I love the song, due to a post in random thoughts, I now have "beyond the sea" by Bobby Darin jammed into my head![]()
The Beatles Hard Days Night has been stuck in my head for 2 weeks
Chet, do you find that you have songs stuck in your head constantly? I was reading a grocery ad and realized that I was barely comprehending anything as "thank you" by My Morning Jacket played away in my head. I haven't listened to that CD in at least a month.
It's like my brain is playing a soundtrack to my life.
Maister's random post immediately brought to my head:
Look for the union label
When you are buying a coat, dress or blouse.
Remember somewhere our union's sewing
our wages going to feed the kids and run the house,
We work hard but who's complaining.
Thanks to the I.L.G. we're paying our way.
So, always look for the union label,
it says we're able
to make it in the U.S.A.
sing with me, come on, you remember!

You get all squeezed up inside/Like the days were carved in stone/You get all wired up inside/And it's bad to be alone
You can go out, you can take a ride/And when you get out on your own/You get all smoothed out inside/And it's good to be alone

So FueledByRamen starts this thread called, "Whats the beef with the association?". Do I think of the APA when I see it? No, my mind fixates on "the association." Now I've got Cherish stuck in my head. Arrrrrrrrrrrgh!
Cherish is the word I use to describe
All the feeling that I have hiding here for you inside
You don't know how many times I've wished that I had told you
You don't know how many times I've wished that I could hold you
You don't know how many times I've wished that I could
Mold you into someone who could
Cherish me as much as I cherish you............
Please make it stop!!!!
“Death comes when memories of the past exceed the vision for the future.”
How about...
"Blinded by the light
wrapped up like a douche
and I'm a loner i the night...."
Hey, ofos....shake that Texas dust out of your ears, wipe those former Wolverine State eyes, and check out this cool video.....

To be honest, I have always liked the tune. It reminds me of somebody from my past that was very special.

Outta the blue 3 am Sunday driving home after the gig, our guitar player starts singing:
I was born in the wagon of a travellin show
My mama used to dance for the money theyd throw
Papa would do whatever he could
Preach a little gospel, sell a couple bottles of doctor good
Chorus
Gypsys, tramps, and thieves
Wed hear it from the people of the town
Theyd call us gypsys, tramps, and thieves
But every night all the men would come around
And lay their money down
Picked up a boy just south of mobile
Gave him a ride, filled him with a hot meal
I was sixteen, he was twenty-one
Rode with us to memphis
And papa woulda shot him if he knew what hed done
Chorus
I never had schoolin but he taught me well
With his smooth southern style
Three months later Im a gal in trouble
And I havent seen him for a while, uh-huh
I havent seen him for a while, uh-huh
She was born in the wagon of a travellin show
Her mama had to dance for the money theyd throw
Grandpad do whatever he could
Preach a little gospel, sell a couple bottles of doctor good
OUCH - TOFB is so cruel!![]()
because of the "Bailout" bill being floated in DC, I've been humming the Schoolhouse Rock song...
I'm just a bill
Yes I'm only a bill
And I'm sitting here on Capitol Hill
But now I'm stuck in Committee and I sit here and wait
Come on all you Senators and Congresspeople, stand up and sing along
