    Harry Potter Actors

    http://www.wizardnews.com/story.20040415.html

Looks like 'Goblet of Fire' is going to be released November 18, 2005. Cool, I'm looking forward to it.

I know I can't be the first person to consider it, but it occurs to me that it takes about 2-3 years to get a major release movie out these days. And the Harry Potter series follows young Harry's life a single school year at a time, so the actors are aging at least twice as fast as the characters are supposed to. That means that they'll either have to get new actors to portray well recognized roles (James Bond fans should recall the warm reception post-Connery George Lazenby got), who hopefully will look/sound/act the same or else we'll be looking at a Hermione who's on her second marriage or a Ron with five o'clock shadow.

Come to think of it, the movies have been so lucrative and Rowling hasn't actually finished writing the remaining books in the series, she may wish to incorporate the the actors' condition into the stories themselves at this juncture. Book 6 could be titled 'Harry Potter and the Magic Ministry Pensioner' or 'Harry Potter and the Enchanted Dentures'

I used to aggravate my son by colling the movie character "Hairy Potty." Might be a porn movie idea in that.

In my mind I can see:

Bob Dole chatting with Harry. He's can sense that Harry's magic wand needs a little more than a Hogwarts spell of levitation to satisfy Hermionie of late. He leans in, and the camera tightens up the shot, then Bob offers a little blue pill to our hero. Flash to a look of deep satisfaction upon Hermionie's face. In the background, an equally satisfied smile comes upon the face of Minerva McGonagall.

Nothing can be as bad as 40 year old John Travolta playing a 'high school kid' in Grease!

I am also looking forward to the release of the new Harry Potter movie. I think they may be able to use the current actors for all the movies....look at all the 20 and 30-something actors now that play teenage parts in movies/tv. Hopefully the Harry Potter actors age well.....

I saw something during the press rush of the 3rd movie. Daniel Ratcliffe was at that time the same age as Harry in the book. So, he must have started a couple of years behind, if this keeps up.
I, too, am looking forward to the next movie. And the next book!
"We do not need any other Tutankhamun's tomb with all its treasures. We need context. We need understanding. We need knowledge of historical events to tie them together. We don't know much. Of course we know a lot, but it is context that's missing, not treasures." - Werner Herzog, in Archaeology, March/April 2011

I don't get all the fuss about Harry Potter movies... they're as boring as the Lord of the Rings series! and that's saying a lot!

    Be my guest Maister

Snape, Lupin and Sirius Black are all supposed to be the same age, as they were at school together. They're supposed to be in their mid 30's. Alan Rickman, who plays Snape is getting away with murder! He must be around 53

I just saw another preview for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Looks like the actor playing Harry is only a few years from becoming a pensioner. I believe the guy playing Dumbledore in this movie will be playing Harry in the next one.
