    Bernalillo, NM

Bernalillo is a small, predominantly Hispanic town north of Albuquerque on the Rio Grande. It's at the junction between I-25 (which goes south to Albuquerque and north to Santa Fe) and US 550 (which goes northwest toward Farmington), so most people passing through only see the sprawling commercial corridor along the highway. These pictures show a bit of that, at the west end of town by Coronado State Monument and the Santa Ana Star Casino, but they start with the older part of town, which is much nicer. There's been a bit of new development in that area, and in general Bernalillo's been a lot more responsible and forward thinking than certain other sprawling suburbs in the area, but as is clear from the pictures it has not yet quite taken off.

I've always loved the pueblo-style architecture so common in New Mexico. The town clearly has some decent sign regulations, which is nice. Stunning backdrop, too!
