    hello!

    Hi, I'm here to introduce myself. I am not directly involved in planning but I do enjoy reading about it as well as architecture. I'm also a huge travel fan so reading about different cities is always cool. I'm currently living in Lexington, KY and looking for a new place to live. Anyway, enough about me! I look forward to chatting with you all and having some good discussions.

    Thanks!

    Welcome from west of you along I-64 and on the other side of the Ohio River.
    Oddball
    Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves?
    Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here?
    Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?

    Are you sure you're not hurt ?
    No. Just some parts wake up faster than others.
    Broke parts take a little longer, though.

    Yeah, you were a little long winded and graphic in your detail. Your username says a lot. Welcome to the good ship Cyburbia -- where there are only three rules (until the MODs tell you otherwise)

    1. Post hard;
    2. Post often;
    3. Don't take EG's comments personal.

    Welcome from Solano County, California.

    The Bluegrass would have to be in my top ten places to live (although I'm totally sold on Northern California, so). If only Lexington could revive its downtown, it has so many beautiful neighborhoods that would create a great place! (and that countryside-fantastic)

    Remember this motto to live by: "Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO- HOO what a ride!'"

    Hello from Houston!
    "We do not need any other Tutankhamun's tomb with all its treasures. We need context. We need understanding. We need knowledge of historical events to tie them together. We don't know much. Of course we know a lot, but it is context that's missing, not treasures." - Werner Herzog, in Archaeology, March/April 2011

    Wow, thanks for the warm welcome everybody! I regret lurking for so long

    BKM, you are spot on, it is a beautiful area. It's always seemed like a place with good potential, but never really gets over the hump. It seems to be growing at a pretty impressive pace, but it's all more of the same. Cloned communities and chain restaurants and malls. How much more of the same do you really need?
    Oh well, I guess it's getting harder and harder to avoid sprawl.
    Regrets, I've had a few; But then again, too many to mention.

    Welcome! Never met anyone from Lexington, but I've had the 'privilege' befriending several people from just down I-75 in Richmond who were all pretty much certifiable head cases. Seriously...

    Welcome from the outlet of the Big Thompson Canyon, flood free for 29 years!
    You get all squeezed up inside/Like the days were carved in stone/You get all wired up inside/And it's bad to be alone

    You can go out, you can take a ride/And when you get out on your own/You get all smoothed out inside/And it's good to be alone

    Welcome from sunny central Texas from a guy known to pop some eighties classics into the CD player! I was just listening to a Billy Idol CD the other day...

    "Oh, that is all well and good, but, voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country."

    - Herman Göring at the Nuremburg trials (thoughts on democracy)

    What he said, just not as far away. In fact I could spit on Louisville from here. (I wouldn't, but I could...)

    That does not surprise me. It's an odd little town that doesn't have a lot to offer except for EKU which is really just a big party school. Not a lot of culture but a lot of cheap beer.

    Thanks again everybody
