    greetings from asia

    hi all
I'm a city planner from Singapore. It is interesting to read the forum listings though I am not familiar with all the terms and stuff used about planning or other topics but I will adapt soon enough.

Just want to learn more about the built environment, not just to my island or asia.

While I'm no expert on asian cities, I guess I could try my best to answer any related questions, be it planning or otherwise.

Welcome from bicycle-friendly Portland, Oregon, USA, just a little ways across the pond from you! I am eager to hear your insights about Singapore and glad that you are international in your communication and interests.

Welcome from Indiana (The Hoosier State).
    Got a deal for you;
I will not ask you about asian cities if you don't ask me about basketball.
    Oddball
Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves?
Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here?
Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?

Are you sure you're not hurt ?
No. Just some parts wake up faster than others.
Broke parts take a little longer, though.

Dive on in! We're a welcoming bunch.
You get all squeezed up inside/Like the days were carved in stone/You get all wired up inside/And it's bad to be alone

You can go out, you can take a ride/And when you get out on your own/You get all smoothed out inside/And it's good to be alone

    Hello from Houston, Texas!
"We do not need any other Tutankhamun's tomb with all its treasures. We need context. We need understanding. We need knowledge of historical events to tie them together. We don't know much. Of course we know a lot, but it is context that's missing, not treasures." - Werner Herzog, in Archaeology, March/April 2011

Welcome to La La land from Ireland. I have been to Singapore for a few days and was amazed at the shape, form and growth of what seemed basically to be a large city-state. 4.5 million people on an island about 3 time the size of Washington DC. It seems to function perfectly. It must be said that the section of the main city occupied by a large section of the Indian population was the most interesting part that I visited. I never did get a drink in Raffles though. I must be too scruffy.
