    hello from Toronto~

hello~ I just recently joined cyburbia and thought i'd drop by and say hi to everybody. I'm currently studying a graduate planning degree at York University in Toronto and I am particularly interested in public space. Will be going to New York City in the coming week to check out some of the spaces i've been reading about but did not get a chance to see it for real. (Tompkins Square Park, Bryant Park)...etc etc...so hope everybody is having a great day! Any suggestions on where i should go when im visiting the big apple will be greatly appreciated!~

    Cheers!

    Welcome
"They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." Ben Franklin

Remember this motto to live by: "Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO- HOO what a ride!'"

Welcome from SW Indiana, where there are still some small towns with court house/town hall squares.

Have you checked out Project for Public Spaces: http://www.pps.org/

Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves?
Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here?
Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?

Are you sure you're not hurt ?
No. Just some parts wake up faster than others.
Broke parts take a little longer, though.

Welcome, w1ng. I'll be your neighbor soon - moving to Hamilton.

You'll love NYC! I lived in Jersey for a year and a half and I so miss being able to hop on a train and be in the middle of Manhattan in an hour. Have fun!

    Hello from Houston!
"We do not need any other Tutankhamun's tomb with all its treasures. We need context. We need understanding. We need knowledge of historical events to tie them together. We don't know much. Of course we know a lot, but it is context that's missing, not treasures." - Werner Herzog, in Archaeology, March/April 2011
