    Texas Park Planner Says "Howdy"

    Howdy,

I'm a park planner for Texas Parks & Wildlife at headquarters in Austin. I went to Texas State University for geography B.S. and M.A.G., and am studying for the May AICP exam.

Hobbies include bicycling, flyfishing, watercolor, and attending most any environmental planning meeting around.

My, well, we've got the wine in common (married & expecting).

Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves?
Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here?
Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?

Are you sure you're not hurt ?
No. Just some parts wake up faster than others.
Broke parts take a little longer, though.

Welcome. I lived just up the road from Austin a bzillion years ago, when I was 21 and 22 years old: Ft. Hood was my husband's first duty station and our eldest child was born there the day after I turned 22.

Yes, this forum is a great example of how much many of us have in common. Being computer-saavy planners to start, other characteristics often follow.

The last time I was in Indiana was 1992 for the USCF Junior Nationals in Bloomington. Great town, the road course was a Rxitch, Bear Mtn. State Park, I think. Coming from Houston, I remember the excruciating pain of those climbs with better riders than I. Had a great time though, beautiful town. ...still fantasize about racing the Little 500, after watching Breaking Away...

Well, I mustered up to 26 posts, but still can't post an avatar. I've got a custom-made bike icon just waiting, too. Any hints? Did they change the rules of 15 or whatever posts?

"We do not need any other Tutankhamun's tomb with all its treasures. We need context. We need understanding. We need knowledge of historical events to tie them together. We don't know much. Of course we know a lot, but it is context that's missing, not treasures." - Werner Herzog, in Archaeology, March/April 2011

Hey, go to Chuy's and have an Elvis Presley Memorial Combo for me. Welcome to Cyburbia, BikePlanIt.

Hey, isn't there a store in Austin that has Guiness Ice Cream?

I think I've seen such a blissful delight advertised at
Flipnotics Coffeespace on Barton Springs Drive. I don't get to go much, as I live in San Marcos. Still I dream of the Java Porter (yes, you heard me) at Mountain Sun in Boulder. Funny how we hold a culinary geography, huh?

Greetings from another southern Hoosier. Still trying to find my stolen Peugeot U-08.

Thanks for registering -- you should be able to upload your custom avatar from the edit avatar page. Max size, IIRC, is 50x50. Good luck and enjoy.

Welcome from another Texas State Bobcat working in a burb north of San Antonio! I got my BS in May for Georgraphy-Urban & Regional Planning. I'm working on my MPA with Urban Planning emphasis at Texas State right now, so I may have to track you down for a trip to The Tap Room or The Tavern some time!

You'll find a couple of us former Bobcats lurking around...

"Oh, that is all well and good, but, voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country."

"They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." Ben Franklin

Remember this motto to live by: "Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO- HOO what a ride!'"
