    Double-Secret Probation Michigan Laefest Poll

This is the third thread that explores the idea of a Michigan Laefest. The first thread brought the idea to the surface. Thread two (2) included a poll to try to nail down date and location.

The big winner was RJ's pool. Couple of problems with that.....northern Florida is a long drive for Michigan and Ohio folks AND he indicated that his pool filter has a problem with bear fur. Was that a slam?

Ann Arbor on August 6 received three (3) votes. There were no other big vote-getters, as most folks expressed a preference for non-poll-listed Battle Creek or Kalamazoo.

So, rather than having a structured poll.....please respond with your best choice:

    Ann Arbor, August 6
    Kalamazoo, August 6
    Battle Creek, August 6

One (1) of the above, different date

    Not listed city, August 6

    Not listed city, different date

This Bear will start the laeball rolling with K-Zoo, August 6.

I'm in for Kazoo August 6.
People will miss that it once meant something to be Southern or Midwestern. It doesn't mean much now, except for the climate. The question, “Where are you from?” doesn't lead to anything odd or interesting. They live somewhere near a Gap store, and what else do you need to know? - Garrison Keillor

Ditto, if I am in town, as the schedule looks now I will be here.

Also as of now I have a vacant apartment where some cyburbanites could crash on the floor. Back in the late 1800's and early 1900's the house was a boarding house and it would be fun to return it to it's old glory. If it is still vacant and I'm in town I can offer it to some laefest participants. It is about 1/2 mile from downtown.

Apparently a little tummy HAIR is ok, but the full back fur thing is the problem. I'll talk to Rumpy, we could do a road trip. Where is this Zoo of which you speak?

Excellent call Bear. I didn't realize Ribfest wuz going on but that's icing on the cake! Naturally Big Moe is going to be there....for the uninitiated Big Moe's ribs are a foodgroup unto themselves!

Haven't talked to Mrs. Maister yet but I can't imagine there'd be a problem if some plannerfolks/spouses want to crash at my estate - we'll open up the east wing just for the occasion.

I had some Moe's at Island Fest last weekend. Moe's ribs and beer, now that is what a good time is all about!

I too have some space if a couch or air mattress is ok to pass out errrr sleep on. Oh and I am sure that someone can crash on the balcony if they don't have an issue with all the woodland creature that surround my apt.

Side note the Acradia Creek Festival Site has been in operation for it’s second year, and it is truly impressive. Beer tent is so big, they back the trucks right into it. There is a great band shell, fountain, river, massive cobble stone patio, play area for the kids, walking distance to several other establishments in Kalamazoo downtown, and is more than big enough for several events.

Click here to see construction pictures and news about the grand opening a while back.

We should find some Cleveland planners and have one at Put in Bay.

I'm up for AA (if there is no football, artfair, or nascar), but will also consider BC of K'Zoo, cuz I got a gal there.

RIBFEST!? I may go there. Would I get beaten up wearing Notre Dame stuff?

Z Man, seaking refuge with family in Michiwaka, IN...
You get all squeezed up inside/Like the days were carved in stone/You get all wired up inside/And it's bad to be alone

You can go out, you can take a ride/And when you get out on your own/You get all smoothed out inside/And it's good to be alone

Not likely. K'zoo is within Notre Dame's 'sphere of influence'. South Bend is only 90 minutes away. Lots of Irish fans around here.

edit: ok, ZMan you might get beaten up.....but not because you're wearing ND apparel.

Too bad you guys are doing the laefest in August, otherwise I could possibly join you guys. My in-laws live in Portage. My July and August weekends are booked solid.

Why else would I get beaten in Michigan. Should I wear my Milan Hejduk Avalanche jersey?

Only the Michigan thread would contain so many hockey references I'm sure the rest of the world would find obscure, at best!

Typically I am through K-zoo and BC several times a year while travelling to visit my sis in Algonquin Ill. I try to take the train mostly as I am only a couple miles from the Amtrak Station here. It seems to make the trip less of a pain and more of an adventure.

I will let you know when I am driving through, and for what its worth, I don't really have a gal in Kalamazoo, but that don't mean I would not consider one

If you guys go through with all of that I'll be there spouting of like Jeremy Roenick! Or maybe I won't be there like the NHL in general! (I miss it)

Well, I don't know you all that well, but I am positive that we could find you a girl on the 9th!

Maister, don't you have a sister who's single?
