    Freedom Quotes

    Happy day-before Independence Day !!!

    Before jump-starting this thread, I searched the thread archive to see if there was already a FREEDOM QUOTES submission. Folks here at Cyburbialand like their quotes and certainly referenced them over the years, but no actual FREEDOM quotes as a single thread.

    Note: Even though this thread is helping to celebrate the United States of America's Independence Day.....feel free to pop in quotes that celebrate the joys of freedom, anywhere in the world.

    My first offering is not the complete quote, but enough to get an idea. It is from John Adams, the 2nd President of the United States.

    Because on my fair city's riverfront we have a Four Freedoms Monument;
    Here is an excerpt from Franklin D. Roosevelt's Address to Congress, January 6th, 1941:

    In the future days, which we seek to make secure, we look forward to a world founded upon four essential human freedoms.

    The first is freedom of speech and expression--everywhere in the world.

    The second is freedom of every person to worship God in his own way--everywhere in the world.

    The third is freedom from want--which, translated into world terms, means economic understandings which will secure to every nation a healthy peacetime life for its inhabitants-everywhere in the world.

    The fourth is freedom from fear--which, translated into world terms, means a world-wide reduction of armaments to such a point and in such a thorough fashion that no nation will be in a position to commit an act of physical aggression against any neighbor--anywhere in the world.
