I am working on a number of zoning code amendments for one of our clients, which is a small city. One of the changes the City Council wants is to ban extended stay hotels/motels. When I looked up the definition of extended stay, it said anything longer than seven days would be considered an extended stay. Does anyone have an example of strong wording from a zoning ordinance that would discourage/ban these types of places? I'm not sure saying that a hotel/motel is not allowed to let anyone stay longer than seven days, plus leaving in the wording that says hot plates, etc.are not allowed in hotel rooms, is going to cut it!
