Where are we from? Google Earth Version

The idea just struck me, that since I've always protested about the lack of geographical inclusion or respect to scale of other "Where are you from" projects, Google Earth provides a nice frame to do a geographically correct and all inclusive version of this project.

The degree of certainty of your location is up to your choice, that means if you don't want to give the coordinates of your house, it's ok, just post a set of coordinates within your city/town of residence so it can be mapped. If you don't have Google Earth and/or don't know teh coordinates of your city/town then just post the name (and state or country) and I'll get it.

jmello, Pictures are not necessary, just the lat/long or the location; I'll add it as a Google Earth Placemark under your name and then save it. So when I have a good number of users added, I'll upload the .kmz file (that saves the placemarks) so everyone(who has google earth) can see all of them, I'll post some pics too, for those who don't have it.

Oncee again, if you want to be added, just post your coordinates or the location name. Also, it's supposed to be your current location, not where you were born.

It's that simple. If you wish more privacy you can also send it by PM.

Just put in 1701 Buhr Mill ct, Springfield, IL, 62704 for me. That's not the house in which I was born but it is the house in which I grew up.

Hmmm... apparently there's some confusion here....
Remeber Cardinal's Where are you from thread? This is the same, but using Google earth, that means you submit your current location, not the house you were born in or grew up in...

So far, we've got MZ, abrowne and myself; jmello and jordanb apparently got confused...

Hopefully now it's 100% clear that it's just a replica of Cardinal's thread, but using Google Earth as a base, instead of a world map; and the greatest thing of all, is that it won't be just an image, because I'll upload the file that has all the placemarkers representing each user so all of those that have Google Earth can see it.

Skel: Sorry. It would have been more clear had you said 'where do you live?' rather than 'where are you from?' In english, 'where are you from' implies your hometown.

My current address is 3019 N Kimball Ave, Chicago Il, 60618.

I understood the literary reference to the "where are we from?" thread. But, yeah, subtle difference in sentence structure, significant difference in how it can be interpretted.

I understand that the title may have been a bit confusing, but after the rectification I posted after jmello's reply I thought it was clear enough... now that I think of it.. I should have linked cardinal's thread from the begining... but well.. I hope it's clear enough now... I thought if I used the same title as Cardinal, people would get it just like in the other thread... but I guess it's been unstuck too long and people forgot about it.

What is this English you speak of?

Skel, per my previous post: you did not use the same title as Cardinal. Cardinal's title was "Where are WE from?" Jordanb is right: "where are YOU from?" implies "where were you born?" or "where did you grow up?". "Where are WE from?" is unlikely to be interpretted that way. I understood your reference to Cardinal's earlier thread but it isn't the same title and the slight change you made is readily confused by Americans to mean "Where were you born?"

Your class "Differentiating between English and Engrish 101" is now concluded.

I could probably find out some coordinates for you if you need them, but hopefully this will be enough.

Ok we've got 11 entries until now, so I'll guess I'll wait until tomorrow to upload the first version.

giff, or any other mod.. Could you be so kind to change the topic title so it says: "where are we from" instead of where are you from? since as you can see it has caused unexpected confusion... (My bad!)

Take a couple years ago, my house, and much of the neighborhood has since been built out.
