    Plans for the Holiday Weekend?

I'm sitting at home this weekend with my boyfriend, a cat, and three kids (his, not mine)... so I was wondering what wonderful and exciting things everyone else is doing for the three-day weekend. I'm hoping to live vicariously through the rest of you this time...

Friday night: Fajita night and pinochle with friends
Saturday: Painting the interior walls of our house (blargh)
Sunday: More painting and a matinee with a girlfriend
Monday: hopefully done with painting but Rob has a nut in his head about ripping up the carpeting in the living room and dining room. i feel an impending migraine. sigh.

I guess I too will be living vicariously through my fellow, more exciting, Cyburbanites.

I'm jumping in a Subaru Outback with a few friends and hitting the open road for Cleveland. Will attempt to be the voice of reason and keep them from playing "beat the driver" with competing six-packs... Party Friday, Party Saturday, Party Sunday, back on the road Monday...

Nothing too special here...hoping to rack up 300 miles on my bike if the weather improves. I'm pool sitting too, so that will be cool if it's not cold and raining. This weather sucks.

    Wow

I forgot it was a holiday weekend.. Maybe, if the gym doesn't have a crazy schedule, I'll take in a yoga class.. take the pup to the park, spend some quality time with the man.. pretend it's just every other weekend, but there's one more day of it-

Off to Newport State Park on Friday; camping, hiking, biking, kayaking, um... possibly drinking a beer or two.

Have a Happy and Safe Labor Day Weekend Cyburbanites!

Friday morning, I'm heading out to Gulf Shores, Alabama to hang out at the beach and do some outlet mall shopping. Sunday, drive to the Mississippi Gulf Coast and hit the casinos in Gulfport and Biloxi and do some more outlet mall shopping. Head home sometime on Monday and rest through Tuesday while trying not to think about the pile of work that will be waiting for me on Wednesday.

well if its is up to my ex-girlfriend turned bad influence friend that puts ideas into my head...the plans are to get drunk and pick up hookers.

but since i have a bit more dignity than she does...it's off to saratoga to play the horsies then to my uncle's camp for a few drinks by the lake. that's saturday.

sunday i'm helping a friend move back to school.

monday, see saturday (if saturday didn't dry my funding source up). otherwise, it's my day to be impulsive.

Last bash of summer will find me reading about 200 pages of economic development texts for class, and writing a reasonable and scientific based plea for preserving critical areas of a proposed subdivision on the shores of our lake.

Oh I would LOVE to tear up the floor of my kitchen and eradicate the shitty cabinets in there. In fact the floor is coming out this weekend! Crummy linoleum poorly installed by the previous "handy man" owner. This old cottage needs a TON of work. I would love to level it and start over.

WHich reminds me of another more pressing priority this weekend. UPDATE MY RESUME!

Saturday : Prepare a powerpoint for a presentation I'm giving on small town governments implementing a website......I know nothing about!

Go for a run, picnic at a local park.

Sunday : Visit the in-laws entire family at the cabins and explain AGAIN why they are an existing non conforming use.....and if they tear down all eight little dinky cabins......they won't be able to put up 8 nice ones (only 2 large ones)

    Monday : SLEEP

    Have a good week everyone!

    Ripping up Old Linoleum

How hard is it to get the old glue up? I believe this will soon be a project of mine. Possibly this weekend ,Do you have to sand it off?

I've been there! I helped my mom and dad put their application together for a zoning variance when they built their cabin. They actually had good reasons (steep topography, etc.), so at least I don't feel like a total heel. And luckily I don't know anyone that works for the County of Mariposa. Whew!

Head out tonight to Queensbury, NY to visit my brother and his wife.

Tomorrow: Probably take my daughter to Great Escape.

Sunday: Spend the day at Saratoga, bet a few races, watch my daughter in total happiness since she'll be around horses.

    Monday: Head back home.

Tuesday: Report to Superior Court for my first day of jury duty.

Wednesday: jury duty if necessary, Planning Board meeting in the evening.

Th-F - Jury duty or work

11th - head to Indiana for my college buddy's wedding.

12th - Stop by at BSU to visit old prof's, introduce my wife and daughter.

13th - Wedding Rehersal in Carmel, IN

    14th - wedding

    15th - head home

    16th - Jury duty.

    17th - 20th - jury duty or work

    23rd - jury duty

    24th - 27th - jury duty or work

27th - My wife is in a wedding rehersal

28th - another wedding (the 4th one this summer, including mine).

If you're in Saratoga, I'd recommend Congress Park Duck Pond - little kids go nuts over the ducks. It's right on Broadway, across the street from the new building that has the Gap in it.

BTW - talked to your sister in law this morning!

At our office we found the best way to get out of jury duty, unless the case is going to be interesting. Say you know and have opinions of the defense lawyer due to your employment and interactions with the person.

Only works in small towns, with lawyers who do not specialize, but it does work

I'll keep that in mind, thanks Kelly!

Alas, Superior Court is in my hometown of Concord (population 40,000)...and though I know many attorneys that have presented cases to the Concord ZBA (I'm an alternate zoning board member), they're not typically the type that do cases at Superior Court.

Actually, had the jury duty been some other month, I wouldn't mind it. It was an incredible hassle to get out of the week when I head to the midwest. I'm looking forward to doing it, as I think it could be a really interesting experience.

    Dewars and diet. AAAhhh.

I have never been called for jury duty in my life! You must be registered to vote to be considered right? I have been since I turned 18 and voted for carter! I am an exemplary citizen; Why don' they call me?!?

So, surprise there are new windows in the guest bedroom! and the old kitchen floor is vanquished. Pissy cat smell is gone. Darmah the poo poo head. THose cabinets are next! Gotta lavatory with shower stall adjacent to kitchen and the floor is harvest gold with fleur de lis geometric. So with in three sq ft. there are four types of flooring coming together. It is way bad!

Luckily the old linol and carpet peeled away easily. The tru floor is revealed and it ain't pretty!

Didnt touch the bathroom or LR. floors. We are thinking of sanding, leveling and painting and floating interlocking wood strips over it all. maybe tiling the bathroom. The 3/4 bath is paneled in streakey roughhewn cedar board. Blehhh.

    We are feeling energetic!!!!
