Yesterday while on the beach in South Haven, this skier noticed something that he had read about, but it was still odd to see. In the medium size waves where the typical swimmers and several groups of surfers. Yes, surfers on Lake Michigan. Apparently the waves are big enough to surf the waves but are still noticeably smaller than the big ocean waves. A while back the local paper did an article on it, but I figured that it would still be a rare sight.

Hockey in the Sunbelt A group of investors are building a 60,000 square foot ice skating facility near here. Here is 70 or so miles west of charlotte in the foothills of NC. They hope to have a youth hockey league and curling. Can you drink beer while you curl?

As part of my gym here in Germany there is a cafe area with tables where you can have a sports drink or coffee or beer and SMOKE! Said smoke wafts out into the aerobic machine exercise area

Several days ago at the gym, I saw a Haredi Jew working out on one of the treadmills. Long beard, black brimmed hat, white button-down long-sleeve shirt, black dress pants, and dress shoes, just jogging away. It just seemed wildly out-of-context.

They just finished one here as well. They paid to have a building inspector on site for the entire job. The had plans and pretty much knew what they were going to do going in. They paid to have the plans reviewed a few days before demo.

I always wondered about those Extreme Makeover places. I always comment on what would pass and what wouldn't while the GF and I watch.

I gotchya both beat . . . We have Culver's down here south of the Red River, in both McKinney and Rockwall . . . Texans appear to have a taste for butterburgers

I think I've mentioned this before on Cyburbia but I once visited a French Resturant/Orchid Farm ten or so miles outside of a nowheresville Southwest Kansas burg of 1500 people to collect a water sample. It was owned by two very Prideful gentlemen. When I first encountered the place it was rather like finding an igloo in south India. You don't, at least I didn't, expect two gentlemen with a life commitment to be surrounded by ranchers in the rugged lands of SWKS.
