    Worst places to meet women

    A Linux users group meeting.

    A homebrewing/zymurgy club.

A family reunion, unless you're from West Virginia.

The Michigan Womyn's Music Festival. Really, any event with "womyn" in the name.

    A ham radio convention

Any bar with a name like The Back Door, The Bolt, Buddies, The Tool Box, The Shaft, The Ramrod, The Tunnel, The Cockpit, Bronco's, The Manhole, Members, Choices, Family, Different Strokes, The Village, or The Rainbow Club.

    A college chastity club.

    Hans Island.

    A Warhammer tournament.

    Detroit, Michigan.

Anyplace referred to as "the jobsite."

A Ross Jeffries "speed seduction" seminar.

    Walcott, Iowa.

    [Blackville NB

Actually anywhere in rural NB, I'll add to the list as I think of more places.

Prison anywhere, unless you are Karla H's prison lover.

    Adding sites on the internet.

Yeah, looking at those geezers at the ham radio convention was kinda sad. Just think, ham radio operators were the techies of their era.

People will miss that it once meant something to be Southern or Midwestern. It doesn't mean much now, except for the climate. The question, “Where are you from?” doesn't lead to anything odd or interesting. They live somewhere near a Gap store, and what else do you need to know? - Garrison Keillor

Detroit is worst? according to the 2005 Forbes its # 15 and # 17 among cool cities. http://www.forbes.com/lists/2005/3/2556.html

My vote would be a wrestling event. Sure there are women there, but would you want to date or marry any of them?

I've been there on my way back from Iowa City once. I didn't get a good impression either.

The Vatican. If you are a woman, this is also a bad choice of places to meet men. If you are a man looking to meet men, though....

    Madison, Wisconsin. Trust me.

...and let's not forget that her friends in Boytown have sisters that are cute, single, and straight.

Places like Detroit typically have very low male:female ratios, which means that, statistically, they're the best places to meet women. Older communities which have declined economically usually have bled wage earners, "go getters," etc-- people who are more likely to be male. High incarceration rates help too; surely a good chunk of Detroit's eligable bachelors are serving time. That means less competition for you.

The worst places to meet women? Anywhere in Alaska.

How about in the bars where there's lots of successful women, like the ladies who are lawyers and doctors, and the dudes who are too scraed to date them because they feel outmatched? I never experienced that myself, but I did read about it in a NYTimes article about four years ago. Or maybe that was a Sex and the City episode?

Listening to some of the younger engineers in my office, the campus of Georgia Tech would qualify. Then again, they're engineers, so that might have something to do with their inability to meet women...
