    Maxwell St (Broadband Warning!)

I took a trip down to the reconstituted Maxwell Street Market (now on
Canal Street) a few weeks ago to pick up some oddities and take
    pictures.

This is what it looked like on the real Maxwel St. in the 1950s:

    And today:

^-- The Current "Maxwell St" market isn't on Maxwell St anymore. It is now on Canal St.next to an open-cut rail yard and some big box stores, and industrial buildings. From what I understand, they're planning to move the market again. To where, I don't know.

Yet most of the buildings in that 1950s picture, as well as the market itself (in its original location) were destroyed by sucessive rounds of urban renewal and university expansion.

I've been to the current "Maxwell St" market once and had an amazing taco from one of the food vendors.
I'm sorry. Is my bias showing?

The ends can justify the means.

Rat meat or perhaps dog meat?? I'll try one, next time I'm in town...... Reminds me of the great street taco I had in Ciudad Juarez in the early 90's.....had to be Iguana meat and cat or something similar....but damn that was good, had two of them..... This could be an interesting thread of its own.....
