    Husband and Wife

We are a couple in our fifties and we try hard to understand the workings of this world and don't always. Agreed we tend to be very opinionated but good people. We are both native Texans and live in a very small town.
But we are also very interested in hearing the opinions of others and when we are wrong we don't mind saying we are wrong.

Welcome from Michigan! Are both of you posting under one name?

As for understanding the working of things, I am not sure that many of us will agree on what makes things tick.

"They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." Ben Franklin

Remember this motto to live by: "Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO- HOO what a ride!'"

I'm sorry. Is my bias showing?

Let's not be didactic in this profession, because that is a path to disillusion and irrelevancy.

Welcome from slightly north of the Alamo City!

"Oh, that is all well and good, but, voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country."

No. Just some parts wake up faster than others.

Welcome from Northern Colorado. Where the geese fly and the bulls cry.
You get all squeezed up inside/Like the days were carved in stone/You get all wired up inside/And it's bad to be alone

You can go out, you can take a ride/And when you get out on your own/You get all smoothed out inside/And it's good to be alone

    Hello from Houston!
"We do not need any other Tutankhamun's tomb with all its treasures. We need context. We need understanding. We need knowledge of historical events to tie them together. We don't know much. Of course we know a lot, but it is context that's missing, not treasures." - Werner Herzog, in Archaeology, March/April 2011

Wonderful, a single non-gender specific matrimonial unit. I look forward to observing the degree of consistency/inconsistency you exhibit in your unified voice. Welcome from the Cascades!

Welcome, from NW Ohio. Interesting opening, I must say. This Bear is also enjoying his fifties.

Enjoy your walk through our fair community. If you enjoy urban issues, planning "stuff", geography, social ills arguments......most any Forum will do. If you enjoy the lighter side of living in Cyburbia, try The Friday Afternoon Clubbe.

BTW, if anybody tells you to "ignore ______", ignore the person telling you that.
