My class is working with a development corporation here and I'm on the urban design team, looking at their architectural/physical assets. Is there a process that planners/architects go through to help establish architectural guidelines?
I'm asking because as the neighborhood undergoes redevelopment, I'd like to offer suggestions that will help retain the community's architectural charcter, what differentiates it from other neighborhoods. Whether that's architectural refinements or a certain building type.
I already have the National Register nomination for the area we're looking at to start.
