    Winter admissions to MUP programs

    Dear all,

Does anyone have any insights on whether it is worth it applying for winter admissions for MUP programs? I am specifically looking at applying to Michigan and Portland State's Urban Planning programs. I have heard from some that the competition is much less, while others have stated that the funding opportunities are not quite a great.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    Sincerely,
    Peter Bratt

    Right on both counts

As far as I can tell, you are right on both counts. I also think a lot (but not all) of the programs simply don't allow spring admissions, although sometimes they let you take classes in the spring and then apply for the fall.

Florida State does have spring admissions

It is true, however, that funding opportunities aren't as great as they would be in the fall, but they do exist, since there are a few people that will be graduating in December, some of whom might have an assistantship.
