    Planning legislation

I'm a Provincial (read: State) government employee very interested in recent trends in legislation - especially the boundaries between the legislative body and the implementing, municipal or regional planning body. What do you permit and what do you control. What's the recent thinking where you are. I'm in Manitoba, Canada. Thompson to be exact. 400 Miles North of the U.S. border. hope to here from you

    Planning Legislation

It appears that here (South Carolina is as good an example as any) that our State legislatures approve enabling legislation that allows local governments to plan, zone, regulate etc...By and large local governments are provided a great deal of autonomy. I would suggest looking for feedback from planners in the States of Georgia, Florida, New Jersey, Washington...I believe they work under state imposed guidelines requireing mandated complience with state and regional plans.
