Hello there! First I'd like to introduce myself: I'm an expatriate from the United States who is now a PhD student at the University of Amsterdam. I am interested in the relationship between government (land-use, retail, economic) policy on shopping mall location in northern Europe. This is inspired, in part, by Frieden and Sagalyn’s book Downtown Inc., which you are probably familiar with.

I was wondering whether any of you are dealing with something similar, and could perhaps provide me with suggestions, comments, and any anecdotes about this. Conversely, I do have a pretty good grasp of Dutch planning, and am currently working on deepening my understanding of the (retail) planning systems in Germany and the UK, so if you have any questions, I’ll do my best to answer them.
