Thread: Rural development planning

    Rural development planning

I posted a message earlier dealing with the relationship between land use planning and economic development. I have recently discovered that this relationship is covered under what is called rural development planning. Does any one have any information or references on this topic.

Shannon, I would suggest that you consider three other elements in the equation beyond Land Use: Infrastructure (location, timing and expense), equity (sharing of enhancements with areas of jurisdiction not benefitting from current infrastructure investment) and transferable development rights (or similar mechanism) to preserve environmental and cultural assets.

Infrastructure investment is a much more potent determinant of economic development's timing and location and a much clearer reflection of and commitment to economic development by the public sector. Good luck.
