The City of Thunder Bay is evaluating its approach to residential development in semi-serviced and unserviced areas of the City, and is seeking information on experience in other areas. In particular, the following would be useful:

1. Information on problems experienced with residential development serviced by municipal water mains and individual on-site septic systems.

2. Information regarding residential development serviced by communal water supply and/or communal sewage disposal systems. (Circumstances under which this form of servicing is used, and mechanisms in place to ensure that communal systems meet acceptable standards, and are properly maintained and inspected.)

3. Specific examples of problems experienced with concentrated residential development served by individual on-site wells and septic systems.
