I'm deeply interested in regional planning and the potential that united metropolitan areas have to solve the challenges of urban areas. But I'm having difficulty finding web sites for the agencies that do this. I'm looking for agencies that are addressing growth management, transportation, housing and education issues in a coordinated and comprehensive fashion. I'm familiar with Portland's Metro and the Metro Council in Minneapolis/St. Paul, but are there others as effective? I ask because I would enjoy working in an environment where cities and suburbs realize that neither can go it alone.
