    Window Signs

How do your codes deal with window signs?

Our currrent code allows 10% of any window to be covered without a permit and a max of 25% covered with a permit.

Some problems are arising, especially with movie rental places, who have been installing signs w/o a permit that cover around 75 percent of the window. So I am seeking any input into what different municipalities allow

    Exempt here too.

if they are becoming a problem, have teh Chief of Police do teh public service announcement/press conference that basically says if you can't see out we can't see in. In our area this tends to get store owners to rethink signage.

They're exempt in our ordinance, but like you we just drafted a resolution to limit window signs to no more than 20% of the window area.

Permitted without a permit, up to 10% of window area. Cumulative area of window signs and wall signs cannot exceed maximum permitted signage area for that wall. Window signs cannot be animated.
