    Historic Preservation, anyone?

Hello to all from Chicago! I'm a recent graduate with a Master's in HPres. I have an undergrad degree in Anthropology and Art History and looking forward to learning more about the planning world. Any preservation planners here?

I believe there are a few here either by education or among their job duties.

Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves?
Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here?
Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?

No. Just some parts wake up faster than others.

    Greetings from Missouri
Yes I am Staff liaison to the Landmarks Board here in my fai iy. It is job duty and personal interest more than education. We have around 7 historic districts and I work with the developers, rehabbers, business owners, etc to maintain the districts.

    Welcome from a fellow Chicagolander!!!
I'm sorry. Is my bias showing?

Cool - a preservationist! Greetings from The Deep South, from another preservation planner (although I'm stuck working under the title "transportation planner" - go figure...). From which fine institution of higher education did you receive your Masters?

    Hello from Irving, TX!
"We do not need any other Tutankhamun's tomb with all its treasures. We need context. We need understanding. We need knowledge of historical events to tie them together. We don't know much. Of course we know a lot, but it is context that's missing, not treasures." - Werner Herzog, in Archaeology, March/April 2011

Just graduated in May from The School of The Art Institute--a relatively new program started in the mid-1990s. Was a great experience moving out here from NJ, especially using Chicago as a "laboratory."

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

Yes, that would be me (Somerset County), also a Hoosier and a practicing preservationist/planner. (It's the bloody trifecta!) Earned my MSHP at Ball State in '89. Thanks for registering and feel free to jump in.

    Welcome from NW Ohio.

Enjoy your walks through Cuburbia's well-preserved cobblestone streets. Lots of nice people hanging around these corners.

Hmm..last fall? That would be my class, then. I was one of the three students who gave the final presentation to the Ordinance Review Board. Love to hear about what's been going on there since.

Wow! Seems like I'm in good company.
