Transportation Planning Internship

Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA)
South Bay Area Team

Essential Duties
Provides support to the South Bay Area Team staff; assists in preparing Technical Advisory Committee meeting agendas and minutes; assists the team with maintaining project tracking database, State Transportation Improvement Programming schedule and Memorandum of Understanding/Letter of Agreement schedule; conducts technical research as required; and performs other related departmental work.

Requirements for Internship
Potential candidates interested in this internship must meet the following requirements: a full time college or grad student majoring in Urban or Transportation Planning, Engineering, Political Science, Business, Public Administration or a related field; must be detail oriented; must possess excellent written and oral communication and organizational skills; proficient in MS Office applications - - Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.; and must be eligible to work in the U.S.A.

I am writing this letter in order to apply for internship opportunity in Metor for winter 2005. Currently I am enrolled in Santa Monica College as a freshman in business major. I believe this opportunity will be a good internship experience for my career goals as an urban planner.

As a business student who interested in urban planning as minor, I would like to learn about urban or transportation planning, maintain project database, and doing technical research.. For this semester I would like to have 2 credits for paid internship which required me to complete 150 hours.

I have excellent communication skills, ability to multi task, and computer experience in Microsoft Office, good organizational skills, and enthusiasm to learn.
