Catch 22: getting a job for work experience/no one will hire you with no experience

I graduted in 2002 with a degree specializing in Urban Planning and was a planning intern for almost a year. I have been applying for planning positions all over So. Cali, however no such luck. The funny thing is the "entry-level" planning positions require one full year of planning experience. Obviously, I sound frustrated. Is there other ways to aquire planning experience? Are there firms that are willing to give college grads a chance to prove themselves? I am so ready to work in the Planning field.

Try looking at professions allied to planning.
