    Riley Creek Arch Bridge (pics)

Was surveying here today. This is the former Terre Haute and Alton Railroad over Riley Creek in Coles County. The structure was built in 1863 and to the best of my knowledge, the oldest standing bridge in the county. And she ain't goin nowhere. They don't build them like this anymore.

The railroad has been converted to a bike trail. You can't even tell there is a bridge below

Hopefully I can get back to here when I have good sunlight and my good camera; and maybe some waders.

It was a rails to trails project done about 10 years ago. It was supposed to be a lot longer but there was some structural issues with a couple of bridges.
