Dear Friends,
Nominations are now being accepted for the 1000 Friends of Iowa's 2006 Best
Development Awards. These awards are given to new development projects that
best embody the principles of smart growth, including efficient use of our
resources to develop sustainable communities that provide a high quality of
life.
Nominations are accepted in five categories:
* New Residential
* Renovated Residential
* Renovated Commercial/Civic
* New Commercial/Civic
* Leadership
Examples of appropriate projects include new infill development, a
neotraditional neighborhood, a renovated building in a downtown area, or a
former industrial building renovated for loft spaces. A list and pictures of

This year's award sponsors include InVision Architecture, the Peninsula

Winners will be notified in mid-March; awards will be presented at 1000
Friends of Iowa's annual meeting on April 8, 2006 at Zion Lutheran Church in
Iowa City.
