Who loves a parade? (56k beware)

Apparently over 250,000 fans of the Super Bowl winning Pittsburgh Steelers do!

A victory parade was held on February 7 in downtown Pittsburgh to welcome the Steelers back home and to celebrate Pittsburgh winning "One for the thumb."

I walked with a couple of co-workers up the street to near the beginning of the parade route to watch and take pictures of the celebration of an event that has done wonders to the mood of this city.

So here's a few of the pics...

Bill Cowher, and his chin, thanks the fans.

Not football related, but you can't do a thread based in Downtown Pittsburgh without a pic of the US Steel Tower.

Troy Polamalu, the coolest man in the NFL, shows his approval.

Big Ben Roethisberger waves to the crowd.

    Randel El

Don't ask... I have no clue what this is.

I didn't have time to fight the crowd and attend the rally at the end of the parade but I did catch some of the fire works afterward from my office window.

Remnents of some black and gold explosions.

It was a pleasure to host the Steeler fans for the Superbowl. Come back now, do some gambling, see the ballet , check out our zoo and cultural center sometime.

Only 250,000? You call that a victory parade?

Now this is a Superbowl parade:

Hmmm obvuoisly you don't know Pittsburgh's geography, getting an extra 250,000 people into that central city is no small feat. The area, already constrained by hills and rivers, was built to have a soaring skyline. There is not a lot of extra capacity in the transit and road/parking network to handle much more than that streaming into downtown.
