Schools for urban design and sustainable development..

Are there any speciallizing in this field?

I am in my last semester of gis and urban planning and I would now like to go in a 'sustainable' direction . Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I won't vouch for current reputation, as it's been a few years since my degree, but University of Wisconsin-Madison has programs in Urban and Regional Planning that share faculty and students with the Gaylord Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies. Within the Environmental Studies are several multi-disciplinary degree programs including ones that focus on energy and sustainable development. You could combine coursework, research, and faculty from several departments to pursue your interest in urban design/sustainable development. For example, I did a degree in Conservation Biology and Sustainable Development, which included a half dozen planning courses. Finally, Madison is home to some great planning firms, green building organizations, and the usual suspects lingering in the shadows of the University and state capital.
