    03/08/06 Caption Contest. Computer Geek Ed.

    I left the caption on it because I think it is funny too.

    People will miss that it once meant something to be Southern or Midwestern. It doesn't mean much now, except for the climate.     Sorry Stan not to rain on your parade;
    I do believe this photo has been used before for a caption contest.

    No. Just some parts wake up faster than others.

    I'm sorry. Is my bias showing?

    Let's not be didactic in this profession, because that is a path to disillusion and irrelevancy.

    And I believe this has been "snopes"ed to prove that it is not genuine. The keyboard thing in the front was added, and the caption is totally made up. The original photo is a Rand Corp computer that was used in the 50's, and not a futuristic design of a personal computer.

    Actually, I think the photo was posted by someone on a thread I started about retro-futurism or the future that never was or something like that. So it's still virgin territory for caption contests.

    actually, the photo is a display of the interior of a nuculear submarine.

    but in an effort to make fun of the photo:

    This computation device will manipulate ABC's telebroadcast signal and display an incredible sharp image consisting of 4 shades of gray and 40/20 vision quality.
    Dude, I'm cheesing so hard right now.

    I particularly like the 1950's era television, but for realism sake shouldn't it be on top of a rickety TV stand, like it was in most homes?
