    Guess the City #290

I am a major resort town for at least 2 major metropolitan areas
A recent bypass of my major north-south artery was recently completed
Within 15 minutes to my north, are a state university, a ski resort, and an amphitheater
I have a hisoric downtown centered at my crossroads, with lots of nice shops
To my east is hotel, gas, and restaurant sprawl centered on a limited access U.S. highway
A state park with a fictional monster's name attached to it is located nearby
My town is named after a place in central Europe
One resort in my town even has it's own airstrip

    Good luck!

That would be correct, jmello. I guess that was too easy.

Lake Geneva is located in close proximity to both the Chicago and Milwuakee metropolitan markets.
An eastern bypass of Route 120 was recently completed, alleveiating traffic and congestion
Univ. of Wisc.-Whitewater, Alpine Valley Ski Resort, and Alpine Valley Music Theater are all located fairly close to the north
While there's a charming little downtown, there is also every fast food restaurant and gas station under the sun along U.S. 12, which is limited access right here
Big Foot Beach State Park is located nearby
Lake Geneva is also a place in Switzerland
and finally...Grand Geneva Resort is so massive it has its own airstrip

Only because your world ends just outside Chicago.

Wasn't the Grand Geneva Resort originally the Playboy resort?

Sorry...didn't travel much as a kid.

I'm running out of GTCs where I know the clues by heart.

This Milwaukee-area native never vacationed in Lake Geneva... nor did anyone he knows. I think y'all flatlanders just try to make it sound like you aren't the only ones who clog the roads on Friday and Sunday.

I should note, I grew up going to the Dells, which is certainly no better.
What luck! A random assemblage of words never sounded less intelligent.
