    Asking for more money...

    Columbia's $9000 offer is a very nice gesture. But compared to to $32k tuition, it is just a gesture.

    Is there any formal etiquette to asking for more, or is just a matter of getting the dean on the phone and breaking some balls?

    Good luck with that, but you will realize sooner than later most likely that anything payed with money that isn't yours is much more than a gesture!

    I'm with you there. There is no such thing as "free money". There are always expectations attached to it whether they are obvious or not.
