    Lots are but many aren't.

Canada and many other countries are well represented in these forums.

    Welcome from the Pacific Northwest.

Welcome from the Hoosier State along the Ohio River.

Besides Canada, there are active members from Chile, New Zealand, and Australia.
Recently the most interesting member to join was from the Falkland Islands.

Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here?
Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?

No. Just some parts wake up faster than others.
Broke parts take a little longer, though.

    Hello from Ireland.

Welcome. I was in Finland last year as a part of a field trip for my Masters Class. Helsinki is without a doubt one of the most intersting cities I have visited. The level of planning promoted by the City Council is unbelievable. They take a very proactive appraoch to planning, even going so far as to become the laregest property developers in the city. They have bought up all of the surrounding land, therefore they can control the release of such land. Very effective in controlling sprawl. I am also impressed with the masterplanning and design involved in Finnish Society. A lot of architects and local authorities in Ireland are using Finland as an example of how it should be done.

I am also reasearching areas such as Ruohalahti, Pasila and Arabianranta for my thesis.

I look forward to your input.

    Hello, from Irving, TX!
"We do not need any other Tutankhamun's tomb with all its treasures. We need context. We need understanding. We need knowledge of historical events to tie them together. We don't know much. Of course we know a lot, but it is context that's missing, not treasures." - Werner Herzog, in Archaeology, March/April 2011

Welcome from California! I've always wanted to visit Finland-my brother loved Helsinki.

I'm a big fan of Finnish design (my kitchen plates and pots and pans are mostly Iitala).

    Welcome from Chicagoland!!!
I'm sorry. Is my bias showing?

Let's not be didactic in this profession, because that is a path to disillusion and irrelevancy.

    Welcome to Cyburbia.

Feel free to check out the threads that reference the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. There are a lot of Finnish folks living in the "YooPee". At least one regular poster on these boards is from the Upper Peninsula.....and there are some others who have spent a lot of time up there.

    Glad you are here!
