Oooh, sorry to hear. I had one date that watched the football game on the tv that was behind me while having dinner.

Ugh! Sorry to hear about it. I don't know how you do it. I always chalk up bad dates to "all guys suck"; I would think it'd be tough for you to blame it on that.
Hopefully you at least got a good story out of it.

At least you're putting yourself out there. I spent the weekend with the girls -- no potential dates in sight...
How do I know you are who you think you are?

I had a date last month and we went to eat, she picked a place that was loaded with televisions and each one had different bowl games going on. I kept being apologetic because well I'm a man and it was football.

I can understand that....I like bowl games too. But this was some midseason game that probably was of no major importance. And no apologies were offered.

Yeah, Veloise for your date! It sounds like you had a lot of fun, and hopefully you guys can go out again.

For what it's worth, if I had to rely on a date being standard, a guy (or girl) asks, you go alone, just the two of you, etc. etc. I would probably say I've only been on a handful of dates. It's just not the way it has happened.... usually it has involved a group setting where friends are trying to play matchmaker. Which I am so much more comfortable with than doing a one on one thing. I'd so much rather talk to someone first and know there is a connection before doing the whole "date" thing. The thought of a "date" makes my belly hurt. The thought of a single guy being out with a group of us knowing that my friends are trying to set me up, still makes my belly hurt, but a lot less than the other

cch, as the others said, unless you know for sure you're ready to get back in, right now it's best just to focus on you and the girls. Don't do anything until you are ready, and that might be awhile. Too many times people jump right back into it and that inevitably won't work out. I can't really talk to the whole meeting people thing, and have that same question actually. Since my divorce (2 years ago), the people I have dated were all through friends of a friends and all but the last one was long distance. I'm not from here originally, and this is a very small town, most everyone knows everyone else and there aren't too many options.

chet sorry your date (didn't) suck! As someone else said, chalk it up to a learning lesson - what it is you want from someone, and what it is you yourself want to make sure you don't do on a date!

Donk glad the dumping was mutual. Sometimes its better to just acknowledge that it didnt work on, and be able to move on, than to try and work on something that just isn't there.

Will that be the last we hear from/about RJ tonight ?

Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves?
Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here?
Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?

No. Just some parts wake up faster than others.
Broke parts take a little longer, though.

Maybe he hasn't really 100% outed and was afraid 'the wrong person' would see him?

Close, Wayne State U. Only division one sport we had was fencing and we dominated the sport, mainly because we Detroit kids are good at stabbing each other.

Yeah, well fortunately the moderator ranks are packed to the gills with Yiddish speakers. But seana, where did you learn to speak Canadian so well?

People will miss that it once meant something to be Southern or Midwestern. It doesn't mean much now, except for the climate. The question, “Where are you from?” doesn't lead to anything odd or interesting. They live somewhere near a Gap store, and what else do you need to know? - Garrison Keillor

I was originally thrown by Shadkhen, for I am a little more familiar with Yenta. The correct use of Yenta, however, is a chatty woman (chatty almost to excess, in fact), where Shadkhen is, of course, the professional.

My first instinct was to go with yenta, but Seana is such a maven that this goyim had second thoughts and decided to try to be a real mensch.
