    Internet Issues?

Figures the day after a the State Supreme Court Judge in New York Stated that Mayor Bloomberg can not fire an employee because he was using the internet, a major carrier in the Midwest (SBC/ATT) crashes causing problems in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Illinois.

Is anyone other than Maister and I having issues?

I use SBC DSL and have no problems. The local rag said it was only an AT&T problem around here.

I recall having Internet problems (especially with getting into AIM) and the Internet running slow or not displaying the content properly about a week or two ago. I'm connected to the college's network. Things seem to be back to normal now though.

I have been having problems with my home DSL service maintaining its connection over the past couple of days. I was thinking that it was just more static in the phone lines and I am at the very fringe of DSL range (about 4300 m of solid copper wire, much of which is still that old paper-insulated cable, between my house on Appleton's NW side and the switching office in DT Appleton).

I use a local ISP via AT&T/SBC for my net service.

I live across the street from the cable company's regional HQ in a new subdivision and get decent to intermittent high speed from them. The 800-NOHELPU service is a joke with its 15 min hold time. At least when the cable crashes it's restored quickly because if mine is out, there's is out too.

Our City-owned utility company provides high speed internet, so no problems here.

not to steal this thread, maybe I should make a new one -

the town I work for wants to institute a no personal internet use at work policy (except at lunch, I think they are thinking, a draft is not out yet) - I actually don't have a problem with it but it will cut into my Cyburbia time but I could use a little discipline

I had a problem employee previously who was on all the time, she was a receptionist so it really stood out because her screen was right there for all to see - this was part of a list of alot of issues that seemed to happen in the story that micheal posted

so I would think if you put the internet policy in the personnel rules, then that's clear policy and this case wouldn't apply?
