I've put in to go. Cross you fingers no hurricane at that time. You know I have my standards. Only conferences that are on the beach.

    Maybe.

Have to see if I can get someone to keep the kid for me, and make sure he goes to school!

    I'll be there.
A guy once told me, "Do not have any attachments, do not have anything in your life you are not willing to walk out on in 30 seconds flat if you spot the heat around the corner."

The only time I ever went to Marco Island was around 1970. We stayed in a little gulf-front motel with a kitchenette. The only grocery store on the island was only open 3 days a week, and the 7-11 sold produce and meat. Mom and I spent a lot of time driving to Naples and reading movie magazines while my dad, brother, and sister went fishing (I get seasick).

Hope I get to go, and see how it's changed.

    On the other hand...

Bump. I'll be registering on-line tomorrow. Then we'll run the numbers to determine if we fly or drive down. Finance Dept will make that call. I sure don't want to drive......

    Anyone else making plans?

I won't be able to "officially" go, will have to take personal time. Hoping to find someone to keep my kid (wow, that's the hard part!); maybe drive down with sisterceleste like last year.

Isn't the conference over on Sat?

Or... are you actually planning on attending sessions and thus missing valuable beach time that you have to make up on the weekend???

The FAPA website still says the prelim program will be available "mid-July"; aren't we there yet?

I really want to go but will not be going anywhere if we end up buying this house that we put a bid on and hope to close on at the end of August. However, I will be up for hosting a laefest at my house (hopefully we get the house) when Nationals comes to Philly next year. It the perfect house for entertaining and bbqing.

Ditto. The conference usually goes till about 2:00 pm on Sat. IF you attend the last awards dinner. If attending the awards dinner, can convince the powers to be to pay for Sat. night also, I'll go to the awards dinner. Yes, I plan to attend some of the sessions and also recoup some time on the beach on Sat. and Sunday morning.

I'm registered for the conference and my flight is booked. My admin was making the hotel reservations as I was leaving this afternoon.
We better start doing the research to identify the site of the Flae-fest.

Looks like I'm going to be approved to go. Got the hotel reservations through Sat. night. If I stay Sat., I have to pay for it myself. We'll see.

Ft. Myers (after a 45 minute layover in Atlanta--the short-cut), and renting a car. Thank you taxpayers!
Will you be there? If so, how about dinner one night? My treat! Is it a date?

I think you played this same game last year.... or maybe it was San Antonio....

I still have the child-care issue. It would be nice to know he'd actually go to school if I was out of town...

I'm going to bump this again. I finally received my "Planning in Paradise" conference program today. Who's attending and knows the area with a suggestion for a Flalefest site? I'll be arriving at my hotel (not the conference hotel as it was sold out), on Wednesday night. Probably around 6:00 pm. I'm at the Marco Beach Ocean Resort.

    Where ya'll staying?

Another bump. About a month away (unless Ernesto washes things out). Who will be there? Because it'll be a Southern thing, I promise not to post any images from the Alefest, but I'll share what I take with interested Cyburbians. We'll trade email addresses there so we don't offend anyone.
