From what Ive read experience in design is a valuable asset as a planner. I do not have a LA background but foresee it important to fortify my Masters studies with design coursework. My question is: What is the value of taking design coursework as a suppliment to a MURP degree? Will future employers take this into consideration or are design positions reserved for those with a more complete design related degree? ie would it be more worthwhile to concentrate on the financial, legal, economic aspects of planning? Would I be straying off course with supplemental coursework in design given that my background is later?
