I'm in the process of starting to clear some land to design a rv/campsite. Can someone take a satelite photo of the area for me? I can get the location off my GPS.

between 2 small resorts
rolling hils, I'm building on a high spot.
major highwya running north/south next to property
I'd like to build it in phases, as my wallet allows me too.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
use Google Earth
Depending on how detailed you want your "design", google earth may not be what you want to use. Your local govt agency (province/subdivision) may have access to wayy better satellite photos that you can do more with design wise.
I wouldnt really "design" anything using just an image. You'd better be getting a field or aerial survey of the site.
Check with your local planning and/or GIS office. Our county has aerial photos of the populated areas of the county. Your county may have the same. Ours are good enough for a decent site plan plus with GIS layers there is also information on soils, fire hazard, fire department jurisdiction, lakes, roads, wells, etc.
I am assuming you probably will need to have a pre application conference with the local planning office anyway, so give them a call.

How about wetlands locations? Floodplain, etc??
We have used these on resurfacing projects where streets are milled and then paved. They are very good construction-wise for at least this type of work as contractors have many reference points available on an aerial that are sometimes overlooked by surveyors. I think the gentleman inquiring is doing more of a layout plot to see schematically what fits where and how to optimize elec/water to the site, etc. Probably wouldn't need detailed design for this, as he will likely not be putting in curbs/catch basins/storm and sanitary sewers or water lines to all sites, as very few campgrounds offer this.Originally posted by Jeff

Where does the Natural Resource data come from? Actual survey, or just NWI, USGS mapping, etc?
Only asking b/c in my last job we wanted to do a county-wide GIS, but struggled with justifying it b/c the nat. res. data wasnt really all that good. We were just using existing mapping.
