The FAC, search engines and privacy

On an experimental basis, posts made in the Friday Afternoon Club and its subforums will not be crawled by search engine spiders. The FAC is now off-limits to most search engines. Over time, older FAC posts will disappear from search engine indexes and archives.

If blocking search engines from the FAC hurts the overall ranking of Cyburbia in search engines, we may allow the spiders to crawl again.

Known IP addresses associated with "brand management companies" and "brand protection services" are now blocked from Cyburbia. Blocking of such IPs is not intended to facilitate trademark and copyright violations, but rather to protect the privacy of Forums users.

Since blocking search engines from the FAC, traffic to Cyburbia dropped quite a bit. I'm removing the robots.txt blocks, but still blocking the brand management/protection companies. This means FAC posts will be seen in Google again.
