    Thank you El Guapo

A few days ago, El Guapo asked to have his moderator privileges removed. On Sunday night, he rejoined the ranks of civilian Cyburbians.

I want to thank El Guapo, one of Cyburbia's first moderators, for his work in making the Forums what it is today. Whether we agreed with his viewpoints or not, I think all of us enjoyed his intelligence, wit and well-articulated posts. I had the privilege of meeting him and his family a few years ago, and can attest that he's a great guy, as well as a talented planner.

Again, we at Cyburbia are grateful for El Guapo's many contributions as a moderator, and wish him all the best.

I got the sense from time to time that perhaps El Guapo isn't my biggest fan.

But he was always a fair moderator who never let his emotions get the best of him. It's Cyburbia's loss to lose such a good "literalist judge."

    I like El Guapo.

I disagree with his viewpoints quite often but I get the sense that he is a good guy. I hope he continues to post.

The archives will show that EG and I have sparred in the past --- particularly over gun control --- but I've known him since college and to echo Dan's sentiments, EG is a quality individual.

Thanks for your work on the site. I know that you have other things on your plate and will continue to contribute.

Yes, indeed a thanks is in order.

Please continue to contribute, your voice is still needed.

For some unexplained reason I thought of this Monty Python sketch
from the third season, episode 29

Man I'd like to have an argument please.
Receptionist Certainly, sir. Have you been here before...?
Man No, this is my first time.
Receptionist I see. Do you want to have the full argument, or were you thinking of taking a course?

Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves?
Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here?
Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?

Are you sure you're not hurt ?
No. Just some parts wake up faster than others.
Broke parts take a little longer, though.

Watch, I'll be the one that gets moderated. "Come see the violence inherent in the system"

BTW - What did I ever do to you to piss you off, or is it just your general personality to poke at a guy at his retirement party?

Nothing, really, just your current disregard of sincere props from other cyburbians not even invovlved in the current user banning controversy.

Perhaps Good riddance was uncalled for, but I had to respond in the moment, otherwise I may have innoccently brushed it aside as "not my problem".

I found this thread to be unecessary. In fact, I considered it a patronizing affront. When you leave an organization on less than good terms you don't have to buy into the fantasy they are constructing that everything is OK and we just had a small disagreement. Things are not OK within the management of Cyburbia. They have a problem and they don't yet fully recognize it.

I don't mind hanging out in a room full of other people who think differently. In fact it is healthy. It's when those other people start to misuse their power and cross a line that can't be undone - then I have issues.

If the moderators of Cyburbia begin to operate with the mindset that if someone doesn't think like they do they can go beyond Cyburbia and play in their personal life, then that is dangerous to you, me, and the rest of the members. They have still failed to address the issue sufficently in my book. Their own privacy policy was violated and it was getting ready to happen again.

And, yes, I am an ungreatful ass - considering some of the kind words that were written here. But you can't have the makeup sex while you are still yelling at each other. Well, maybe Chet likes it that way, but I don't think we are through slamming doors in Cyburbia House yet.

    Nevermind, thank you.
