Dr. Scott and I didn't have a whole lot in common in terms of attitude toward urbanism and cities, but I'm going to miss him greatly. Every serious on-road cyclist owes him a debt of gratitude. He was one of the modern pioneers of vehicular cycling, and along with John Forester protected the rights of cyclists to the roads when those rights came under attack in the sixties and seventies.
