Thread: What is your title?

  1. #1

    What is your title?

To gain a better cross section of fellow cyburbanites, I thought it may be a good idea to focus a survey on how your job relates to the planning world. I apologize in advance for any titles omitted (mods feel free to add titles)
    I myself am:
Traffic Engineer (including the duties of the former Street Superintendent position - who was fired a year ago)

My job title is Senior Planner (Area Plan Commission) & EOC Staff (EMA)

I am a Development Planner (aka current planning administrator)
I'm sorry. Is my bias showing?

The ends can justify the means.

In fact he does....every other Friday when I'm signing time cards.
Did I mention he's going to rake the parking lot and wash the windows this Friday morning?

All the while I thought Urban Planners and Architects outnumber us Engineers/Surveyors in Cyburbia. Makes me ponder...

I think there will be more urban planners and landscape architects register in the coming days, but I have been wrong before.....once.

My official job title, as classified by my company, is "Senior Planner I - Transportation". My business cards read "Senior Historian", though.
I found you a new motto from a sign hanging on their wall…"Drink coffee: do stupid things faster and with more energy"

    Have been:

    Assistant Planner (a few months)
    Senior Planner (3+ years)
    Director of Planning (2+ years)
    Assistant Professor (5+ years)
Consulting Planner (that's what my card said when I was consulting, 12-13 years)
Director of Land Use Policy (4+ years)
    Wilderness Ranger (a summer)
    Town Planner (now)

I like Town Planner as a title, It is not bureaucratic or hierarchical. I am the boss here, but I have always found 'Director" to be too officious for a small community/office.

    With apologies to Will Ferrell:

    I am a MAN.
    I'm a PLANNERMAN.
SOME say the world will end in fire, Some say in ice.
From what I’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice, I think I know enough of hate
To know that for destruction ice
    Is also great
    And would suffice.
