    A Vancouverite signing on

Hi everyone. I'm a long-time city/geography nut who is aspiring to begin a graduate program in urban planning, and is now kicking himself for spending so much time on a rubbish undergrad degree. I just recently found this forum. So far it's really interesting. I'm somewhat familiar with the unique challenges and advantages my city faces relative to the rest of Canada and the US, so I plan to both learn and contribute here.

Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves?
Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here?
Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?

Are you sure you're not hurt ?
No. Just some parts wake up faster than others.
Broke parts take a little longer, though.

    Welcome from Chicagoland!!!
I'm sorry. Is my bias showing?

Let's not be didactic in this profession, because that is a path to disillusion and irrelevancy.

    Hello, from Irving, TX!
"We do not need any other Tutankhamun's tomb with all its treasures. We need context. We need understanding. We need knowledge of historical events to tie them together. We don't know much. Of course we know a lot, but it is context that's missing, not treasures." - Werner Herzog, in Archaeology, March/April 2011

Welcome from NW Ohio. Glad to see you walking the streets and sidewalks of our fair Cyburbia. We look forward to your posts. Especially look forward to good descriptions of a place that many would love to visit (and live by).

Hello from Singapore, and welcome to Cyburbia. In fact, I am also a Vancouverite, did my Urban Geography degree at UBC (certainly not rubbish!), but have been living and working in Singapore for the last 9 years. I do planning policy work here in Singapore, and find Cyburbia a great resource for information related to planning and urban design. I especially like reading the Planning News section every morning with my coffee. Cheers
