...and it really is sunny today.
I'm an architect specializing in historic preservation. I've lived in SD for 5 years. My husband and I moved here from Seattle. After 6 years of rain, cold, and mold we wanted someplace warm. I'm originally from Pittsburgh, PA. I went to high school in Bradenton, FL and undergrad at UF in Gainesville, FL. I got my Master of Architecture from UW in Seattle. I'm slowly criss-crossing my way around the US.
We're fortunate enough to live in the heart of SD and not in one of the continually sprawling suburban areas to the north or east. I'm the rare Southern Californian who could actually walk to work (though I drive). For the most part, I've enjoyed living here, but I'm ready for a change of scenery.
We're about ready to move back east somewhere. I'm tired of SD's redevelopment-on-steriods point-of-view. I want to move to a city where historic buildings aren't seen as the enemy of progress. Right now, we're considering the following cities for relocation:
Austin, TX (have a very enthusiastic friend who loves living there)
Raleigh, NC (or somewhere else in NC)
Pittsburgh, PA (still have tons of family there)
So, I'll be keeping an eye out for more posts on these places.
Thanks for having me.
