    Hi from Alaska

    Hello all---
Here at the Top of the World in Barrow, Alaska we are planning for over two months with no sunlight. Sun sets on Nov 18 and not rising again till Jan 23, 2007.

Stocking up on flashlights and lots of good books to read. I keep activte and busy, inc. lots of walks with Huskies Avu and Nuna. They can navigate through everything from dark Arctic nights to howling wind storms.

Best wishes to planners and those interested in planning everywhere!!

Hi Earl... good to see you around the forums. Even though you aren't a newbie per se, I put your thread into 'Introduce Yourself', since some of our cyburbanites may not have been acquainted with you from your online musings in Perry's Cantina. Hope the change of seasons is treating you well!

    Hello, from Irving, TX!

I honestly don't know how I'd do, living anyplace with so little sunlight. I had trouble on a week long trip to the Seattle area!

the music never stops after dark!

I'll be thinking of Barrow! dark arctic nights and howling wind, and walking the dogs. Now that's a state of mind to climb into!

I'm sorry. Is my bias showing?

    Howdy....

From the other side of COLD and Dark......Western Arizona....where its always HOT and SUNNY

I'd love to see a photo of where you live? It seems like most of the pictures of Barrow that I've seen show a lot of prefab looking structures that are low to the ground....for obvious reasons....

If I were there, I'd think of loading up the outside of the home with major flood lights, maybe like 8 of them, two on each side of the home....put them on timers to correspond with a normal day....oh and add a dimmer function.....that could work....unless of course you have a dark skies movement up there too.... How much does electricity cost that far north??

Anyway, I enjoy your posts.....keep them rolling in......

Welcome from a Bear Up North.....but certainly not that far north. Glad to have you back in the pack.

My son lived in Alaska for awhile.....Ketchikan. I have never been to Alaska but I would love to go. That tropical town southeast of you, Fairbanks, has always intrigued me.

Keep us posted on temperature and when the sun will again pop up.
