    Aging in place

Does anyone have zoning language that facilitates aging in place or is specifically elder friendly?

Not specifically, but perhaps single-family zoning districts should let buildings be split into mulitple units - up to 3 max. That way an older person could stay in the house/neighborhood they are used to and be able to make an income from renting the other 2 units.

Also, allow for accessory housing units.
I'm sorry. Is my bias showing?

Every day is today. Yesterday is a myth and tomorrow an illusion.

    Try Holland, Michigan
They have a develpment with "granny flats", This is the developers expression, not mine. We looked at them a couple of years ago when the Michigan Planning Association hosted the annual meeting in that area. They had a traditional walkable neighborhood design (porches etc) with an association active and passive recreation area. They also had a raingarden for storm water. The developer was Bosgraff. We had a chance to talk to him and he had no trouble selling the homes.
Sorry I dont have any pictures. Try municodes for legal specifics, but they may not match the laws in your state.
